How to vividly present BIG numbers in a speech? a presentation? Or to engage your audience for support of your cause that could call for that BIG number, BIG spending, BIG purchase?

I came across this speech at TED (www.ted.com), where Kevin Bales, in his speech on 'How to combat modern slavery', presented vividly on what is US$10.8 billion.

What is US$10.8 billion?

".... the estimated cost, for, not just freedom, but sustainable freedom,
for the entire 27 million in the planet in slavery,
is something like US$10.8 billion dollar.

What Americans spend on potato chips and pretzels
What Seattle is going to spend on its Light Rail System,
usually the annual expenditure in this country, on blue jeans,
or in the last holiday period,
when we bought gameboys and iPods and other tech gifts for people,
we spent US$10.8 billion dollars.
Intel's 4th quarter's earning, US$10.8 billion.

It's not a lot of money on a global level,
in fact, it's peanuts."
